The Cave

I initially envisioned something more literally in line with Plato’s metaphor but swiveled from shadows and shadow puppets to ink and cyanotype prints when it became clear to me that shadows still express themselves in their figurative nature. I wanted to focus on ::the absence of figure:: and what it means to be disappeared or erased from one’s own story. What nuance and texture do we willfully -or unwillingly- overlook when we see absence as somehow being the same as admission (of guilt or of complicity)? What happens when what we misread as hearty agreement, is actually acquiescence?
