Goddess Trees and the Tree Jewelry Project
The idea for the Tree Jewelry Project was conceived shortly after arrival as an Artist In Residence at Dar Slimane in Morocco. Mx. Valentine was struck by the fecundity of the natural world ze found there and particularly connected with the prolific nature of the medicinal (bitter) orange trees prevalent in the countryside as well as at Dar Slimane itself.
The lushness and feminine structure of the tree limbs reminded Valentine of ancient fertility goddesses Gaia, Hathor and Bast. There also seemed to be a regalness to the trees, and so it felt only proper to adorn them in a manner befitting queens of all they survey.
